REALLY, WHAT DOES “MADE IN FRANCE” MEAN?
A company is said to make ‘Made in France’ products when it produces and assembles its articles in France. Moreover the company must also justify to be of French origin, born on the ground. This is the case for Keyena because the company was created on French soil and has its headquarters near Lyon. Today we would like to highlight Keyena’s choice to turn to Made in France.
WHY DOES KEYENA CHOOSE MADE IN FRANCE?
With the sanitary and even economic situation of the moment, the founder Coralie Gassama wished a total control of her production and thus chose to produce and assemble her products on French soil in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in order to control the manufacturing but also to be able to react internally in case of production delays.
For the anecdote, at the end of the year 2021 we gathered a team of volunteer buddies to help us assemble 150 pairs of KEY ONE in one day to be able to deliver them to you before Christmas: a 24 hour time limit.
BUT STILL?
Yes, because Made in France is also a guarantee of local, ecological and ethical know-how!
Guaranteeing quality
The standards of the country and the EU guarantee a certain quality. But it is also the know-how that is unique and qualified in France. Indeed, at Keyena, we believe that it is better to buy a very good quality product that will last over time rather than a first price item that will have to be replaced regularly.

A product made in France will have traveled fewer kilometers before arriving at your home than if it was made abroad. This reduces the final carbon footprint of the good. Making a product in France is therefore more respectful of the environment.
HOW DOES THE KEY ONE PRODUCTION CHAIN WORK?
The injection molds for the soles and cable bushings were created in China for the sake of quality and know-how, then repatriated to France by sea before being installed in the injection plant.
Aujourd’hui les moules injectent les semelles qui sont ensuite envoyées chez le marqueur pour recevoir leur marquage puis renvoyés à l’usine pour être montées ; Des ouvriers emboitent les passes-câble, insèrent le câble dans ces derniers puis installent le système de fermeture avant de ranger les KEY ONE dans leur packaging. TADAAA, les KEY ONE sont prêtes !
WHERE DO OUR SUPPLIERS COME FROM?
- The plastic of the sole comes from a French company
- The plastic of the pad is delivered to us by a French company
- The cable grommets are also from a French company
- The wire and the closing system made by the company Northwave come from Italy
- Packaging made by a French company called Cartonéo
AND HOW ARE THE ORDERS SENT?
Dès lors que nous recevons une commande, nous vérifions la disponibilité du produit et sa conformité, puis nous la déposons dans un bureau de poste As soon as we receive an order, we check the availability of the product and its conformity, then we deposit it in a post office as soon as possible so that you can receive your pair of KEY ONE as soon as possible no matter in which country you are.
ABOUT HUMAN RESOURCES?
All of Keyena’s human resources work in the Manufactory La Doua incubator located in Villeurbanne near Lyon on the Lyon1 campus. Today we are a team of 5 people: Coralie CEO of Keyena, Eloïse – marketing & communication manager, Nawel – sales assistant, Noémie – engineer and very soon a graphic designer and social networker – Clara.
We do not hesitate to surround ourselves with other service providers when we feel the need: such as Valentine-graphist, By-Agency who helped us with the packaging, Laurent-marketing specialist, Kabolt-webmaster and many others. The design office that worked on the KEY ONE is located in Saint-Etienne, the injection factory equipped with molds in the region, as well as the marking factory.
